I took a Techical Engineering Manager position within Zest Money to create an internal developer platform (IDP) to run the wast number of microservices that Zest Money had. I had to leave the company when it started having finantial troubles.

  • AWS
  • Golang
  • Crossplane
  • ArgoCD
  • Gitlab, GitlabCI
  • Bitbucket
  • SumoLogic

Project scope
#

As the Technical Engineering Manager, I led a team of five individuals, overseeing various aspects of our projects. My time was divided as follows:

  • 40% dedicated to people management, including career development, performance reviews, and fostering team cohesion
  • 40% allocated to technical leadership, which involved hands-on activities such as coding, code reviews, and system design
  • 20% focused on establishing and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders and other teams within ZestMoney

From the project’s outset, we established high standards, committing to the principle that all infrastructure and AWS-related tasks would be meticulously written as code.

During my tenure at ZestMoney, my team and I achieved the following milestones:

  • Established a new AWS Organization from scratch
  • Designed and implemented a robust, secure network architecture within AWS
  • Developed a series of APIs for automating infrastructure management and provisioning
  • Successfully deployed and maintained a self-hosted GitLab Community Edition instance
  • Formulated a comprehensive migration plan for transitioning from the existing cloud platform to the Internal Developer Platform (IDP)
